Sachem Football on Social Media

Dave Falco has given the Flaming Arrows an online presence.

Whether it’s the third jersey to commemorate Sachem’s 50th anniversary, the flat black helmet color or the older additions of the blow up Native American headdress and professionally recorded fight song, the Sachem football program is clearly a progressive organization.

And as society continues to change because of the digital age, Sachem football has adapted to new methods of communication via social media and the Internet.

“Sachem football and social media have begun to go hand and hand,” said Sachem coach Dave Falco.

Over the past six months the program has gone beyond just using the team website – SachemFootball.com – and has added a Twitter account and three separate Facebook pages for alumni, the team and Touchdown Club. On Twitter, you can follow them @SachemFootball and @CoachFalco.

“We are able to communicate at the speed of a text message to a wide variety of people involved in our program,” Falco said.

The recent experience of Dalton Crossan’s recruiting process showed Falco and his staff the value of social media.

“It’s easy to stay connected with people who are interested in our kids and our program,” he said. “Keeping our kids engaged in football is much easier than it used to be even when they are involved in other activities. Communication and the quality and speed of that communication has allowed us to be more successful. Having the coach be accessible even during the off season has been a help to our kids and their parents.”
