Sachem Field Hockey Ready for State Tournament

Practice at KK Athletics twice this week thanks to rainy weather.

Sachem East field hockey spent two days this week practicing at KK Athletics in Farmingville thanks to rainy conditions in Suffolk County.

The girls will take a bus to Syracuse Friday morning for their game against Greene (Section IV) in the New York state semifinals. The winner advances to the championship on Sunday.

Sachem coach Tina Moon said she has been working on technique with the girls, harnessing in on small details in various situations.

"We're working on team cohesion in smaller groups," she said. "We want to utilize the time and work on the small game opposed to the big game."

Since Greene plays upstate there isn't much to know about about their team. They won their county title and regional final and present a handful of threats, two specifically that Moon is aware of: all-state players Emily Conroe and Jahna Driscol.

"It’s different on Long Island," said Moon. "I know what to expect. But with this, it takes the pressure off and let's us play the game. We have to react to what’s given to us. We have to prepare for anything."
