Sachem East's Kristin Doherty scores 2000th point

Sachem East's Kristen Doherty recorded another achievement on the basketball court.

She scored her 2,000th career point in a game against Commack High School on January 29. The Boston College bound Doherty had recently suffered a partial tear of her left hamstring.

She hit the shot in the third quarter and currently has more than 2,030 points, ranking her 17th all-time in Long Island history. She should be able to move into the top 12 by season's end.

While she holds the Sachem East record, Nicole Kaczmarski (2,583) is the district's all-time leading scorer.
