Sachem East, North Finish Year Among Top Wrestling Programs in NY

Sachem East earns highest ranking in program history at No. 3. North finishes at No. 16.

With the conclusion of the 2012 wrestling season, the New York State Sport Writers Association has released its final dual meet rankings. On the strength of strong seasons, both Sachem wrestling squads made the top 20 in this years rankings.

Sachem East earned its highest ranking ever, finishing the year as the Empire State’s No. 3 ranked dual meet squad. The Arrows posted an undefeated 16-0 season with impressive wins over Connetquot, Brentwood, and St. Anthony’s. Sachem East also claimed League II dual meet and tournament titles in 2012. In addition to their No. 3 state ranking, Sachem East finished the season as Suffolk’s top ranked dual meet team. 

Sachem North also put together an impressive campaign in 2012. Its 22-5record earned them a No. 16 ranking in New York State. The Arrows snapped Longwood’s 68-match unbeaten streak, and also topped Nassau power Long Beach to earn their spot among New York’s best. Sachem North finished 2012 as a top 5-ranked dual team in Suffolk.
