Sachem Cross Country Weekend Recap

A look at home some cross country runners did in Sachem.

Kelly Lavan led the Sachem North varsity girls cross country squad with a career-best time at last weekend’s Suffolk Coaches XC Invitational held on Sunken Meadow State Park’s 5K course.

Lavan’s time (20:38) was earned on the tough course that features hills with imposing names such as Snake Hill, Hernia Hill and Cardiac Hill. Her fourth place race effort was followed by Katie Michta’s career-best course time (21:50) and 12th place finish.

Becca Duffy, Dowon Hwang and Marysa Mullen rounded out the top five in the varsity race as Sachem placed third in team scoring in the Varsity B race in the seventh fastest team average of the day.
