Rivera bowling strong at Adelphi: Kathryn Rivera, a Sachem North alum from 2011, and an All-Long Island selection for bowling last season, currently bowls at Adelphi. Normally not a starter, as the team has four seniors, she was called to bowl when one of the starters went down with a dislocated thumb last weekend. She helped the team win its first tournament and become 2012 ECAC champions. Adelphi is ranked No. 19 nationally for Division II.
Goncalves starts season strong: Sachem East alum Melissa Goncalves, a junior at Manhattanville, scored three of her teams four goals in a 16-4 season-opening loss on Saturday.
