Sachem Alum Sean Gil Honored at Ithaca College

Wins Whitleman Award, finishes football career with Bombers.

Sachem North alum Sean Gil, a senior at Ithaca College, won the Whistleman Award for the Bombers.

The defensive end started every game in 2010, recording 37 tackles, including seven for a loss, according to the school.

Gil, a 2007 graduate of Sachem North, was named an honorary defensive captain after Ithaca's game against Union. For his collegiate career, he made 45 tackles, nine for a loss, had two sacks, two fumble recoveries and a pair of pass break-ups.

At Sachem, Gil, who played three years of varsity football from 2004-2006, was an All-Long Island selection as a senior and ranks in the top 5 all-time with 88 career unassisted tackles. He was also a co-MVP for Sachem his senior season.

He and his brother Bryan make up one of the best brother tandems to ever go through the Sachem football program.
