Sachem East alum Brittany Christiansen was recently selected Female Athlete of the Week at Slippery Rock University.
According to her school, Christiansen had a breakout performance at the Baldwin-Wallace meet Friday night, posting career-bests in the shot put and the weight throw.
She won the shot put with a toss of 12.23 meters (40.12 feet) and placed second with a toss of 14.97meters (49.11 feet).

Christiansen, who graduated from East in 2011, was all-league, all-county and all-Patch the last two years. She was one of the strongest throwing competitors in Sachem history.
