Report: Sachem East Boy's Volleyball Loses In State Finals

Flaming Arrows are county champs, Long Island champs, and second best in New York State.

The Sachem East Varsity Boy's Volleyball team has reportedly lost the championship match against Fairport in three straight sets.

According to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association's Twitter account (NYSPHSAA), the Flaming Arrows dropped the final game 25-22 and Fairfield secured its first state championship in the school's history. A win for Sachem East would have been equally as historic.

Still, the East Boy's team put together a remarkable season, defeating their cross-town cousins Sachem North to earn a spot in the county championship, winning that championship over Lindenhurst and then securing a Long Island Championship.

Despite losing the final, administrators at Sachem East will need to make some room on the wall at the gymnasium this year to unfurl the bright new county and Long Island banners.
