Sachem East Swimming and Diving:

The Sachem East girls varisty swimming and diving team started the season with a bang, beating Central Islip in their first meet of the year. Coach Katie Dugan said that the top highlight of the meet was Mary Ansman's breaking the minute in her 100 free, a huge barrier for any swimmer.

"Although the girls were suffering from sicknesses this week, they pulled through and were back in the pool this week ready to swim," said Dugan. She also has high hopes for the team this season saying, "the team is deeper than last year and we're hoping to improve on our record from last season." The girls were off from competition this week, but they're preparing for their next meet against Northport Oct. 3 at 4:30 p.m. at Sachem East.
