Sachem East vs. North Girls Track: The Sachem East girls varsity track and field team faced Sachem North in their final dual meet of the spring season. The East girls were successful, winning 98.5 to 51.5 and finishing the dual meet season with a 4-1 record.

In the 100 meter high hurdles, Alyssa Genduso won by over a second, in a blistering 15.5 seconds, breaking her own school record. It was only the second time she has ever ran the event. She followed up her performance in the hurdles with a win in the long jump (17'2''.) In addition, she was a member of the first place finishing 4x100 meter relay team that also included Ashley Mercado, Essence Sterling, and Ebonie Lewis. They finished in a time of 50.6 seconds.

Another senior who was a multiple event winner was Brittany Christiansen. In the shot put, she threw a solid 37'3.5''. She then came back to win the discus with a throw of 100'7''. Sachem East swept both of the throwing events. Included in the scoring for those events were Brittany Sepe (shot put and discus,) Diamond Jackson (shot put,) and Pam Emengo (discus.)

Senior Meghan Walsh had a stellar day, scoring points in three different events, and being a part of two school records. Beginning with the triple jump, her 33'3'' jump was enough to place second. She returned in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles to also place second. Her time of 67.1 was a personal best and a school record. Finally, she was a member of the first place finishing 4x400 meter relay team that also included Ashley Ayers, Melanie Notarstefano, and Rachel Paul. They finished in a cumulative time of 4:06.0, breaking the previous school record that was set a few weeks ago at the Penn Relays.

While there are so many other impressive performances to mention, this day truly belonged to the seniors. Many of them have been members of the Sachem East Girls Track and Field program since the 9th grade. Many of them will be continuing to compete in the post season.

The following Sachem North runners also won events: Stefanie Richer (triple jump), Kristie Michta (high jump), Kayla Cataldo (pole vault, 400-meter hurdles) and Keira Wood (800-meters).
