Sachem East softball: Sachem 12, William Floyd 0 ... Lindsey Treanor is on a tear. She struck out six in five innings of work against the Colonials. Sam Laird was 4-for-4, while Ashley Goldstein and Treanor both went 3-for-4. A howling wind on its home field did nothing to cool the Sachem East's varsity softball team's hot streak, blanking the William Floyd Colonials 12-0 Thursday. A scoreless second gave way to the Flaming Arrows' first big push in the third inning thanks to a spectacular four-run rally.  After allowing her only walk in the top of the fifth, Treanor transformed a potential two-out, bases-loaded gap-closer by Floyd into clutch defense, striking out the Colonials and sending East back to bat to score seven more runs. -James Haag

Sachem East girls golf: Sachem 9, Riverhead 0

Sachem North softball: Sachem 2, Walt Whitman 0 ... Thursday's game against Walt Whitman was a statement game for the Sachem North girls softball team. A win would keep them in second trailing a very good Bay Shore team, and a loss would put them at .500 trailing both Whitman and Bay Shore. Jen Daniello was next in the rotation and needed to be on her "A" game in order to defeat Whitman. She was and blanked the Wildcats, 2-0. Daniello worked efficiently to keep the Whitman hitters off balance and keep Sachem North in the game. Sachem scored first in the top of the third inning when Daniello knocked in Deanna Pomilla to give Sachem a 1-0 lead, and herself a little breathing room.  Daniello kept Whitman off the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning, and Sachem scored another run in the top of the fourth. Pomilla doubled in Lindsey Brown to add to the lead and keep the momentum in Sachem's favor.  With her team leading 2-0 Daniello was able to blank Whitman for the rest of the game to make it her second shutout in as many appearances. Knowing it was a big game Daniello came prepared, and knew she had to pitch well against one of the better teams in the division. "I came in with a clear mindset and worked alongside my team to ensure the victory," Daniello said. "I also wanted to give my team the best opportunity to win." Sachem's next game is Monday at home against Lindenhurst. - Mike Daniello
