Poll Results: Community Thinks Sachem East Football Will Win 8-Plus Games

54 percent of the voters in last week's poll support team.

In a poll conducted on Sachem Patch last week, 54 percent of voters say Sachem East football will win 8 or more games during the 2011 season.

Currently, the Arrows are 4-0, and along with Sachem North, are the only other undefeated team in Suffolk County Division I.

“The kids bought in,” Sachem East coach Mark Wojciechowski said after their last win over Ward Melville on Saturday. “They’ve worked hard since day one. Our motto is get better every day and they really believe that, they really do.”

In the poll, 26 percent of voters think Sachem East will have six or seven wins and 19 percent think they'll win three to five games.

With Pat-Med (1-3), West Islip (3-1), Lindenhurst (3-1) and Brentwood (1-3) still left on the schedule, it should be an interesting rest of the regular season.

If the season ended this week, Sachem East (117.900) sits in third place in Division I behind Sachem North (130.200) and Longwood (120.000). Playoff seedings are developed by power rankings, which is done through strength of schedule. Sachem East opened the year No. 13 out of 14 in the Division.

Stay tuned to Patch later this week for coverage of Sachem East and Sachem North football.
