Playoff Preview: Suffolk County Championship, No. 1 Sachem vs. No. 2 William Floyd

Arrows take on Colonials for chance to play in Long Island title game.

It's the game that everyone has been waiting for. A year ago this week, Sachem played William Floyd in the Suffolk County Division I Championship and lost, 27-6.

After beating the Colonials, 40-6, in the regular season, however, Sachem is clearly one of the top teams in the county and is looking to win its first county title since 1995.

"Anytime you play a team for the second time, there aren't a lot of secrets," said Sachem head coach Dave Falco. "There is a lot of film out there on both teams that both coaching staffs have, so this is going to come down to who plays the best game."

Sachem beat Northport, 42-21, last week in the semifinals to advance to the title game. Floyd beat Longwood, 26-22, in the other semifinal. Sachem's 42 points tied a playoff record for most points scored in a playoff game, the same total the Arrows put up in the quarterfinals this year.

Match-up: Division I: No. 1 Sachem (10-0) vs. No. 2 William Floyd (8-2)

Venue: Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium, Stony Brook University

Game time: Nov. 19, 7 p.m.

In-game battles: We all know what Sachem is capable of. Don't expect the Arrows to stray from their original game plan of pounding the ball home hard with Michael Andreassi, Dalton Crossan and Hansen hopeful Jesse Scanna. If they do decide to pass, Angelo Armine is ready and willing.

Floyd will use quarterback A.J. Otranto and Stacey Bedell. Luke Miller, who scored three touchdowns last weekend, is a viable threat on both sides of the ball as well. Look for all three to give Sachem a tough time as much as they can.
