Patch Picks: Top 5 Football Players to Watch

Sachem Patch tells you who to pick up in your fantasy draft and who to watch on Sunday.

“Are you ready for some football?” That was the question in a lot of minds last week and many answered with a resounding “yes” as football season began. Some of us started the season with a stacked fantasy football team, but for those of us that are a little late getting started, Sachem Patch has picked five players that you may want to pick up for your team or watch out for this season if you don’t have a team with a ridiculous name to put them on.

Sachem Patch Drafts the Top 5 Football Players This Season:

  1. Aaron Rodgers, Quarterback, Green Bay Packers: After winning the Super Bowl last year, Rodgers hasn’t lost any luster. He had a strong start against the Saints this week and is believed to keep it going for the rest of the season. Will he earn himself another ring? I guess we will see.
  2. Tom Brady, Quarterback, New England Patriots: The first week of the season marked a memorable one for Brady. He threw for 517 yards and four touchdowns, which got most fantasy coaches over 40 points. He and his fans are probably annoyed that he hasn’t won a Super Bowl in five years, so he’s making a move.
  3. Adrian Peterson, Running Back, Minnesota Vikings: Peterson came out week one with just shy of 100 yards. He breaks tackles and received a $36 million contract making him the highest paid running back ever. This guy is slippery, so slippery that you may not be able to pick him up in any fantasy football league either because he is ranked number one in most drafts.
  4. Drew Brees, Quarterback, New Orleans Saints: Rodgers wasn’t the only star on that field last Thursday night. Brees kept up with the champion for an all night gridiron battle between good and good. Sorry, there’s no evil when you talk about these two quarterbacks. They both know what it is like to win and Brees knows what it is like to be a hero in his fans’ eyes, so keep an eye on him to keep his golden boy status this year.
  5. Andre Johnson, Wide Receiver, Houston Texans: Without Manning this week, it might have been an easy day at work for Johnson to beat up on the Colts. He had six receptions for 95 yards, unfortunately with one tipped pass leading to an interception in the first quarter. He got to work though, and will continue to do so this season.
