One Degree of Separation for Pete Blieberg

Here's a nugget of interesting info ... Sachem athletic director Pete Blieberg has personal connections within every Suffolk County football championship game this week.

Division I, Sachem vs. Floyd: This is the most obvious. He became Sachem's latest athletic director prior to the 2010-11 school year. Blieberg also coached and taught at Sachem in the early 1980s.

Division II, Bellport vs. East Islip: Blieberg came to Sachem from East Islip. He was the athletic director there when they won the Long Island Championship in 2007. Also, he's technically indirectly connected to Bellport since Clipper's head coach is a Sachem alum. 

Division III, Sayville vs. Islip: He graduated from Islip High School, played football there and his dad was a Superintendent in that district for many years.

Division IV: Glenn vs. Babylon: Sachem alum Dave Shanahan coaches Glenn, and is his assistant. Blieberg coached Shanahan when he was a student at Sachem and he is extremely fond of Fusaro from the time he spent as a lower-level football coach under the legend.
