North's Rachel Vasquez Inks Deal with Iona

Will play Division I college lacrosse for Gaels.

Sachem North's list of future college lacrosse players is growing.

Rachel Vasquez will play at Division I Iona College next year. She joins teammate Kelly Kuerner (Stony Brook), as well as four members of the boy's varsity squad, to commit to playing on the next level.

"Rachel is as fierce a competitor as you will find, her strength, field sence, and aggressive nature on the field should translate perfectly at the college level," said North assistant coach Ed Manly. "We are excited for her to lead our defense this spring and  Iona is fortunate to have her comming next year."

Iona finished 5-11 in MAAC play last year. The Gaels have a slew of talented underclassmen and Vasquez will be a nice compliment to the mix.
