Last month Suffolk County Legis. Tom Muratore visited Gatelot Elementary School in Lake Ronkonkoma.
Muratore, who met with Christine Gorsky’s third grade class, was able to secure funding for the PTA, which helped Gorsky’s class purchase new books through the Reading is Fundamental program.
“We really appreciate Legislator Muratore's dedication to the RIF program at Gatelot,” Gorsky said. “The children truly enjoyed getting to meet the man who is responsible for the wonderful books they get to take home to read and share with their families."
The children made a banner for Muratore to thank him for helping purchase books for their class.
“The banner is so special to me," he said. "This is why I became a Legislator, to make a difference. I think it is important we give children every opportunity that we can to enhance their school experience and make learning fun.”
