More Renovations at Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium

North Touchdown Club seeking contributions to make it happen.

The Sachem High School North Touchdown Club is sponsoring a fundraising effort to add more renovations to the field at Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium in Lake Ronkonoma.

North football coach Dave Falco said he is hoping to raise about $3,000 for a project that will include the addition of flags behind the bleachers, updated signs and fence slats that will encircle the entire stadium.

Prior to last season, the stadium endured multiple refurbishments that brought the field to life again. From the new home bleachers to FieldTurf and a new press box, all paid for by the Excel Bond, it's only the start. This year there will be refurbished visitor bleachers and a  new track, if it's voted on successfully in May by the Sachem Central School District Board of Education.

"The athletes and coaches have pride in the stadium and want it to look and feel like the special place it is," Falco said. "As [we varsity coaches who use the stadium] rebuild our programs we want the younger kids in our community to attend games and meets and feel as though they want to be apart of that special game day atmosphere when they get to the high school."

This year's renovations can be made possible with donations.

Falco said he hopes to put bathrooms and concessions stands on the home side of the field, but more than anything he's hoping to turn last season's 10-1 run into an even more historical push for a title in 2010.
