Sachem North grads beat out veteran Olympian for first and second placements in Albuquerque.

Sachem North graduates Maria Michta (class of 2004) and Erin Bresnahan (class of 2009) finished first and second in the women's 3,000-meter race walk at the 2011 USA Indoor Track & Field Championships, held this past weekend in Albuquerque, NM.

According to ArmoryTrack.com, Michta grabbed her win with a time of 13:40.52. Bresnahan strided across the finish line in 14:22.55 for the silver.

Michta now holds two champion titles in the event, having beating out veteran Olympian talent from Teresa Vaill (2004 Olympian and a three-time U.S. women's 10-kilometer race walk champion, among other accomplishments) and Joanne Dow (a 2008 Olympic Trials champion, her accolades include five champion USA Indoor Track & Field titles) last year en route to the gold.
