Girls Soccer: Sachem North Advances, East Out
West Islip eliminates East, while North upsets No. 6 Hauppauge.
Sachem North beat Hauppauge, 1-0, Monday afternoon in the first round of the Suffolk County Class AA playoffs. Leanna Curcio scored the game's only goal with 4:49 left in the first half.
No. 11 Sachem (10-4-1) upset the sixth seeded Eagles and will advance to host No. 14 Connetquot on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the second round.
Sachem goalie Erin McNulty made 12 saves in the win.

Connetquot pulled off a major upset on penalty kicks, eliminating third seed East Islip.
No. 13 Sachem East, who beat No. 20 Eastport over the weekend in an outbracket game, was eliminated from the playoffs Monday after a 2-0 loss to No. 4 West Islip on the road.
