Gamblin Selected to Lax Mag Freshman 15

Sachem alum is about to being career at Massachusetts.

Brandon Gamblin has garnered considerable press this off-season with his all-star games and pre-season accolades before his college career starts at Massachusetts.

Gamblin, who graduated from Sachem North this past June, was selected to Lacrosse Magazine's Freshman 15, a list compiled each year of the rookies expected to make the most difference in their debut season.

The magazine writes about his 50 goals and 72 points he recorded at Sachem in 2011, his only season with the Flaming Arrows after transferring from Hicksville High School where he played varsity from eighth grade.

Gamblin has a strong shot and the ability to shoot with both hands, not to mention take faceoffs on demand.

"I'm small, but quick and fast," he told the magazine.

UMass coach Greg Cannella has an open spot on his first midfield, which has Gamblin's name written all over it.

"He expects me to be ready day one," Gamblin said.

Gamblin is the only male from Long Island to make the list. He'll join former Sachem teammate Michael Andreassi with the Minutemen.
