Gallery: Empire Challenge Practice at Sachem

The Long Island squad for this year's Empire Outback Steakhouse Challenge held its first practice Tuesday afternoon at Sachem High School North.

Since Sachem Athletic Director  is the main force behind the football all-star game hosted by Boomer Esiason and his foundation, Sachem is reaping the benefits of playing the host school for practices leading up to the big game at Hofstra University on June 21.

On the turf at Alumni Stadium were many connections  to the Sachem football family. Sachem coach is coaching the running backs, Sachem alum and legendary Bellport coach is coaching the line backers, Sachem alum and Glenn coach is coaching the quarterbacks and Sachem players and James Thompson will play in the game held every year between Long Island and New York City all-stars.  Sachem trainer Mike Wulforst will also be a trainer for the game.

The Long Island team will practice again Thursday, then two more times next week.
