Floyd's Bedell Commits to Villanova

Sachem rival puts recruiting game aside early, will focus on regular season.

In the rare occasion that a rival of Sachem does something newsworthy, we'll write about it on Sachem Patch.

Running back Stacey Bedell has been a thorn in Sachem's side the last two seasons, leading William Floyd to two-straight Suffolk County Division I titles, beating the Flaming Arrows both times at Stony Brook University.

Friday he committed to play at Villanova University, according to a post on his Facebook page.

He will most likely pack it in on his recruiting trips this summer.

He, along with Sachem's Dalton Crossan and Hills West's Davonte McFarlane, who committed to Syracuse, are headlining a strong recruiting class from Long Island for 2012. Longwood's Omari Palmer also committed to Syracuse, and Eastport's Sean Karl is headed to Virginia.

McFarlane is ranked as the 49th top running back in the nation for the Class of 2012, according to Scout.com.

Crossan has attended a handful of visits and is being looked at by a myriad of schools. Rutgers had been the frontrunner, but others may pop up between now and the time the regular season starts in two months.

Sachem will play Floyd in Week 7 this season on October 14. The game should have significant playoff implications since both teams start the season ranked one (WF) and two (SAC), respectively.
