First Annual Motor Parkway Parade Celebrating the Centennial Anniversary of the Completion of the Lake Ronkonkoma Section
The Lake Ronkonkoma Heritage Association announces the Rain Date from the "First Annual Motor Parkway Sunday Drive to Lake Ronkonkoma Parade" that was rained out on 8/7/11.
October 30, 2011 marks the 102nd Anniversary of the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup Race, won by the 1909 Alco-6 Black Beast Racer, which will lead the Parade. William K. Vanderbilt marked the completion of the Eastern Terminus at Lake Ronkonkoma and the opening of the “Petit Trianon” in 1911, 100 years ago.

County Route 67 (Motor Parkway) Huntington -Lake Ronkonkoma , 14.51 miles. Starting point: Deer Park Rd. & Motor Parkway, Dix Hills 8:30 AM assembly. Drive begins at 9:00 am. Ends at 601 Portion Rd., Lake Ronkonkoma(Waldbaums) approx. 10:00amVINTAGE Vehicles, age 1948 and older, will Parade following Motor Parkway to Rosevale Ave., (right), Lake Shore Rd. (left), Portion Rd.,(right), straight down to Waldbaums Shopping Center.

Bring your camera for pictures of the Vintage Vehicles, join the fun of a fall day and celebrate the rich history of Lake Ronkonkoma and the anniversary of two historic dates. The Lake Walk will be available for questions and to collect signatures for the advancement of the Project. It is our goal to put Lake Ronkonkoma back on the map.
