East's Dylan Larkin Commits to Providence

Senior will play Division I lacrosse for the Friars.

Sachem East senior Dylan Larkin committed to play Division I lacrosse at Providence College this week.

He's the first lacrosse player to commit from East this season and one of many throughout the entire Sachem community to take that next step in their athletic and academic careers.

Larkin came to East last year from St. Anthony's and was a starting defenseman for the Flaming Arrows.

"He is very athletic and aggressive," said East head lacrosse coach Rob Murphy, "very vocal, and emerged as one of the team leaders."

"His lacrosse I.Q. made it an easy transition for him as he was quickly able to grasp our different slide packages and zones," added East assistant Justin O'Connell. "His off ball play and excellent stick skills often led to him covering the opponent's best goal scorer."

He received the "Spirit Award" at the end of last season for the example he set towards the many underclassmen at East.

Providence finished 0-14 overall and 0-6 in the highly competitive Big East Conference last season.

Playing in the Big East is "a testament to his work and dedication both in the classroom and on the lacrosse field.," O'Connell said.
