East Defeats North To Remain Unbeaten
Field hockey team ups league record to 6-0 with a 4 - 1 victory.
Sachem East's field hockey team winning is not big news. Not with a combined 7-0 record. So their 4 - 1 win over North on Tuesday wasn't a big surprise. But news at some level was created in that game when North's Rebecca Teta scored.
East's four goals gave them 27 on the season. But Teta's goal was the first East has given up this year. Senior Samantha Alvino and Junior Jordon Miller have been sharing goalie duties, and shutouts, all season.
East took a 2 - 0 lead on goals by Katie Trombetta and Meghan Coope, before Teta's goal pulled North close. The majority of the second half saw East with commanding possession, as they amassed 17 shots on North goalie Chelsea Palma. Two late goals by Trombetta and Coope stretched East's lead to 4 - 1.
