Division I Playoffs Begin This Weekend

Sachem, Patchogue-Medford poised to make a run in the tournament.

The Suffolk County Division I playoffs are set to kick off this Friday when sixth-seeded Northport travels to Sachem North to take on the No. 3 seeded Flaming Arrows at Fred Fusaro Stadium. Earlier this season Sachem North defeated the Northport Tigers also at home to win the Great American Rivalry trophy, 34-20.

Meanwhile, the fifth-seeded Patchogue Medford Raiders are back in playoff action after a hiatus and will travel to the No. 4 seeded William Floyd Colonials turf on Saturday at 1 p.m. Earlier this season Patchogue-Medford defeated the Colonials in dominating fashion, which should give the Raiders some confidence heading into the game.

This was an off-year for Ward Melville, however as the Patriots went 2-6 and failed to reach the playoffs.
