Community Welcomes Back Sachem East Girls Basketball Team With Ovation

Fans, supporters cheered as girls returned from winning the NYS championship.

After a busy weekend of beating two tough opponents at the New York State championship in Troy, N.Y., the Sachem East girls basketball team arrived home in Farmingville Sunday afternoon to cheers from the nearly 60 people that came to show their support.

The girls posed for photos and took in the ovation, something that will never get old.

East beat Shenedehowa, 50-44, at Hudson Valley Community College to win the Class AA New York State title Saturday night. Kristen Doherty and her sister Meagan combined for 40 points.
