Sachem East Field Hockey Wins $1,000 for Holloway Clothing Promotion

The on-field success of the Sachem East field hockey team frequently gets them noticed by competing schools and fans. But now, they’ve added off-the-field fashion to their list of recognition.

Holloway Sportswear, Inc. recently selected Sachem East’s field hockey team as a winner in its Cool Cash program, earning them a second-place, $1,000 check. According to coach Tina Moon, the team posed last April in their Holloway sweatshirts and submitted the photo. She said she was surprised to have been selected.

“We just put it together really quick, we could have used more lighting,” Moon said smiling.

This is the third year that Holloway has run the Cool Cash contest, according to Michael Kohut, who represents Holloway in the Long Island, New York City and New Jersey area.

“The only criteria is that teams have to be wearing Holloway products,” he said. “We select [winners] randomly. It doesn’t matter what the team is. We had thousands of schools submit photos.”

At Thursday afternoon’s check presentation ceremony, Sachem’s legendary wrestling coach was on hand.

“[Holloway] is one of the biggest in the whole country,” said Mahoney, who, as head of his sports apparel and memorabilia company, J & G Awards and Sports, works with apparel companies such as Holloway.

Moon thinks she’ll use the money to purchase gear bags for her team.

“We’ll be able to use them every year,” she said. “When we come off the bus, we’ll look more like a team.”

As if their on-field play doesn’t speak of that already.
