Andreassi Verbally Commits to UMass

North junior lacrosse player will play for Minutemen in two seasons.

Sachem North junior Michael Andreassi has verbally committed to play lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts in 2011-12.

Andreassi, who is a linebacker on the football team and was named All-County on the gridiron this past fall, is a talented attack and midfield threat. Since bursting onto the scene as Suffolk County's Rookie of the Year in 2008, he has garnered All-Division and All-County honors on the lacrosse field.

He has scored 73 goals (35 and 39 led the team the last two seasons) and 19 assists in his varsity career and competed in the NYS Nike Shootout last season. He's on pace to being one of Sachem's most prolific offensive weapons.

North has had seven other players who have committed to colleges for lacrosse as well, making it the most since the school district split during the 2004-05 school year.
