Alvino Makes Big League Debut vs. Braves

Grounds out in ninth, replaces Victor Martinez.

Sachem East alum Billy Alvino, a minor league prospect of the Detroit Tigers, was called up for the third time this spring training with the big club and made his debut Friday evening against the Atlanta Braves.

Alvino, who replaced Victor Martinez in the lineup for the final two innings, grounded out in the ninth inning during his first plate appearance against big league pitching. The Tigers lost, 5-3.

He was called up earlier this spring against the Cardinals and Mets.
