Victories for East Girls and Boys Basketball

In cross-town home-and-home matchups, Girls win in route, Boys edge North in thriling OT fashion.

It was a good night for Sachem East and varsity basketball last night as both the Boys and Girls team defeated rival North at a home-and-home cross-town night.

The Sachem East Girls met Sachem North for the first time and took them down 59-17. Katie Doherty led the scoring for East with 22 points. Sachem East is now 8-1 in League I play.

The East vs. North Boys matchup was a much more hotly contested game that went all the way to overtime. North's Louis Ferrari's three-pointer tied the game with 30 seconds left in regulation, but it was D'Andre Smith's three-pointer with just a few ticks left in the four-minute overtime session that clinched it for East. East improves to 3-7 in League I, while North drops to 2-8.
