Varsity Boys Soccer Playoff Games Cancelled Thursday

Section XI reshuffles the playoff schedules in most varsity sports for the third time.

Once again, varsity playoff schedules have been altered by Section XI due to the complications brought on by Hurricane Sandy and the nor'easter storm. Section XI, the governing body of all high school sports in Suffolk County, announced earlier today that this afternoon's Boys Soccer playoff games for Sachem East and Sachem North have been postponed until tomorrow.

Here is the updated list, as of publish time:

Boys Soccer

  • Sachem North heads to Newfield for a match on Friday, November 9 at 2 p.m.
  • Sachem East is on the road to take on Half Hollow Hills West for a match on Friday, November 9 at 2 p.m.

Girls Soccer

  • Sachem North will head to Ward Melville for a quarterfinal match on Friday, November 9 at 2 p.m.

Boys Volleyball

  • Tonight's volleyball game between Sachem North and Smithtown East will go on as scheduled at Smithtown East High School: Thursday, November 8 at 5 p.m.
  • Sachem East awaits the winner of the Smithtown West-vs-Walt Whitman game. Sachem’s game is scheduled for Friday, November 9, but no word yet from Section XI on a time for that matchup.

Girls Volleyball

  • Sachem East will play host to Connetquot on Friday, November 9 at 4 p.m.

Field Hockey

  • Undefeated Sachem East awaits the winner of the Comsewogue-vs-West Islip game. Sachem is slotted to play that game on Saturday, November 10 at 10 a.m.

Football (game times are the same as before)

  • Sachem North is home against Bay Shore on Friday, November 9 at 7 p.m.
  • Sachem East is on the road against Northport on Saturday, November 10 at 2 p.m.
