Teri Ahearn: Why You Should Elect Me to the Sachem School Board

My name is Teri Ahearn and I am running for re-election to the Sachem Board of Education. I am a resident of Sachem for 20 years, and my three children have gone through the Sachem schools. I am an active community member and I have participated in community activities, youth sports and various fundraisers throughout the years.

I was a member of the Sachem Budget Advisory Committee prior to becoming elected to the Sachem School Board. Before I was elected to the Board, I regularly attended board meetings to keep current with issues concerning our district.  During my tenure as a trustee, I reviewed all information presented to me, and asked questions when more information was needed. I frequently do research to better familiarize myself with topics I am not as experienced with.

I am open-minded and continue to keep myself informed. My top priority is the educational experience for our students while being fiscally responsible to the taxpayers. I pride myself on my honesty, my integrity, and my ability to make informed decisions which are in the best interest of the district as a whole.  I am your open minded, respectable, knowledgeable voice.

I fully understand the challenges faced by our community- families, schools, and taxpayers. I face the same challenges. I will continue to use my professional knowledge, my personal sense of ethics, and common sense approach while considering issues and making decisions that affect all in the Sachem community.

I consider it a great privilege to serve on the Sachem School Board, and with your help and support, I would like to continue to give back to this wonderful community.
