Teachers Union Donates Proceeds from 'We Are Sachem' Rally

At a recent Sachem PTA meeting held at Sachem East, PTA 1st Vice President Dana Platin recognized a donation from the Sachem Central Teachers Association after the union raise funds at the "We Are Sachem" rally.

During the rally the SCTA sold T-shirts and reaped $1,110 in sales, which they turned over in its entirety to the PTA for its Scholarship Fund. The PTA Scholarship Fund is a series of $500 scholarship checks awarded to approximately 56 graduating seniors from both high schools.

"It was an extremely generous gift and we were truly thrilled," Platin stated in an email. "Now we will be able to give out two additional awards thanks to the thoughtfulness of the SCTA. We're extremely appreciative and very pleased to have such a wonderful partnership with our teachers - the "T" in PTA!" Platin said.

The PTA also raised money through the sale of T-shirts at the March 9 rally.
