On Sunday, July 15, residents and supporters of Olympian Maria Michta are invited to drive their cars to the Applebees on Middle Country Road in Lake Grove and get it washed for a nominal donation of $5. Of course you're encouraged to give more if you can.
The fundraiser is being held to help absorb the expenses for Michta's family to accompany her to London where she'll be representing the U.S. in the racewalking event.
Michta's Olympic dream became a reality on July 1 when she won the 20,000 meter racewalk trial in Eugene, Oregon with a time of 1:34:53.33.
The car wash begins at 9 a.m. and will go until 3 p.m.
