Sequoya Arrowettes Raise Money, Awareness for Ovarian Cancer

Walked for charity at Holtsville Ecology Center Sunday.

The Sequoya Middle School Arrowettes took part in an Ovarian Cancer Walk at the Holtsville Ecology Center Sunday morning.

Arrowettes coach Nicole Petrocelli lost family members to the disease, so the girls walked to raise money for research and screening.

The color for ovarian cancer is teal, so the team and parents were sporting it as they walked around the 1.2-mile track

According to OvarianCancer.org, ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death among women, and is the deadliest of gynecologic cancers.

Dunkin Donuts in Holbrook donated hot chocolate for the walk and Bagel Lovers in Patchogue in the Gateway Plaza donated the bagels.
