Sara Wottawa: Why You Should Elect Me to the Sachem School Board

My name is Sara Wottawa, I am a mother of two, a life long resident and will have children in the district for the next 11 years.

For the past few years, I have been deeply involved in advocating for public schools,  as a  school volunteer, and as a local and national public education activist.

I'm a firm believer that community involvement and strengthening a community will help children reach their full potential.

If elected I will vote on issues based on what the community wants as a whole. Board members are supposed to represent the community not their own personal interests! I will be a strong voice for the community. I will also continue to communicate and meet with our legislators to impress upon them the need for stable and adequate funding for education.

I will work with the board, administration and staff to seek ways to maximize our use of district resources and I will work toward finding alternate funding sources to maintain programs or opportunities for our students that might otherwise be impacted by budget constraints.

I deeply appreciate the recognition and support from people who share my passionate commitment to public education. That also includes many parents and other members of the community I’ve met so far throughout this campaign.
