Sachem Students to Appear on Talent Show

Will air on MSG Varsity on Tuesday evening.

Sachem North student’s Laura Laureano and Deborah Santiago will have their talent show auditions air live on television Tuesday evening.

MSG Varsity’s Talent Show Auditions will air Tuesday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m. on Cablevision’s iO TV Channel 14. The auditions took place over the past eight weeks.

According to the broadcasting company, the primetime show will feature student auditions, behind-the-scenes footage and one-on-one interviews with high school students from across the tri-state area hoping to appear on, and ultimately win, this season’s “Talent Show” competition, airing this April on MSG Varsity.

 “MSG Varsity’s Talent Show proved itself to be a true community event last season, with students from around the tri-state region emerging as local heroes within their respective communities,” Michael Lardner, Senior Vice President & Executive Producer, MSG Varsity, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to present this special to our viewers, which gives us yet another opportunity to showcase these gifted young people performing before a wide audience of family, friends and peers.”     

From the pool of online submissions and live auditions, a total of 32 acts will be chosen by a panel of experts to perform on “MSG Varsity’s Talent Show.” Each week during “MSG Varsity’s Talent Show,” fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite performances, and one Talent Show Champion will be named in each of the four categories - male vocalist, female vocalist, vocal ensemble and dance ensemble.

Jared Cotter, a 2007 “American Idol” semifinalist, will return as host of the program for the second year.

If you miss it on January 17, “MSG Varsity’s Talent Show Auditions” will also air on Saturday, January 21 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 22 at 11:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
