Sachem Schools Launches Twitter and Facebook Pages

Superintendent says district will use social media to keep community informed.

Editor's note: The below is a press release from the Sachem Central School District.

The Sachem Central School District launched its official Twitter and Facebook pages earlier this month.

Sachem will look to become more progressive in its form of communication with the community. You can follow the district on Twitter @SachemSchools and on Facebook with its official district page.

The school district will utilize both platforms to post important information about district events from school board meetings to athletic competitions. You can expect live tweeting sessions at school board meetings, key sporting events, arts and drama outings and all places where Sachem residents need to be informed.

“One of our board goals is to always look to improve and enhance our means of communication,” Sachem Superintendent James J. Nolan said. “We have been exploring some exciting ways of using social media to keep our community informed in a timely fashion.”

“Utilizing new social media platforms will help Sachem better inform its residents,” said Chris R. Vaccaro, the district’s new public relations and communications associate. “We encourage residents, alums and anyone affiliated with the Sachem community to gravitate towards Twitter and Facebook to stay informed, while continuing to use the district website, Sachem.edu.”
