A rare honor will go to a Sachem North senior who has been involved in the Boy Scouts since he was a young boy. Will Ruth will receive the Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Saturday, June 9 for his contribution to the proper retirement of U.S. flags.
Ruth installed an American flag drop-box at the Ronkonkoma Fire Department, a box that has been filling up in the run-up to Flag Day this week. Ruth, a player on North's Varsity Golf team, is a member of Troop 91 out of Ronkonkoma, a Troop that dates back to the 1920's.
The Eagle Scout Court of Honor is the highest honor for a Boy Scout to receive. The ceremony for Ruth is being held at Sachem North High School at 7 p.m.
