Sachem North Attackman Haiduk Makes Verbal Commitment

Number 33 decides to play for his brother's alma mater.

When senior Sachem North attackman Nick Haiduk graduates in June 2013, he'll be heading to the New York Institute of Technology to play lacrosse, according to his coach.

By picking NYIT, Haiduk will be following in his brother, Billy's footsteps. Billy Haiduk played for NYIT from 2008 to 2012 and won a national championship under coach Jack Kaley in his freshman year. He played under Coach Jason Mauro in 2007. Speaking of Nick, Mauro praised his work ethic, and expressed his pleasure to see Nick heading to Old Westbury next fall.

"Nick is a great kid," Mauro stated in an email. "He works extremely hard on the field and in the classroom. We are very happy for him and his family."
