When senior Sachem North attackman Nick Haiduk graduates in June 2013, he'll be heading to the New York Institute of Technology to play lacrosse, according to his coach.
By picking NYIT, Haiduk will be following in his brother, Billy's footsteps. Billy Haiduk played for NYIT from 2008 to 2012 and won a national championship under coach Jack Kaley in his freshman year. He played under Coach Jason Mauro in 2007. Speaking of Nick, Mauro praised his work ethic, and expressed his pleasure to see Nick heading to Old Westbury next fall.
"Nick is a great kid," Mauro stated in an email. "He works extremely hard on the field and in the classroom. We are very happy for him and his family."
Number 33 will have one more season with the Sachem North Flaming Arrows, though. Last year the team in the opening round of the playoffs, but fell the following week to eventual state champion West Islip.
