Sachem Marching Band Finishes 3rd in NYS

Scored 83.10 at Carrier Dome in Syracuse on Sunday.

Sachem's Marching Band took third place in the New York State Field Band Conference championships.

Competing in the LS3 division, Sachem scored an 83.10, just behind Kingston (84.40) and champion West Seneca (84.55).

Last weekend Sachem took first place in the NYSFBC competition held in Mineola on Long Island.

Lead by drum majors Robert Downs and Samantha Meadows, the band took the Carrier Dome field in championship competiton. Their 2011 show "Minimally Speaking" was excecuted to near perfection.

The hard work and dedication from all involved, paid off in the band receiving their highest score of the season. In what continued throughout the season to be very strong competition, Sachem prevailed leading the way by beating all Long Island bands in their Class.

The band's championship performance earned them a third place finish in Large School Class Division 3. In addition to the drum majors, student leadership is Field Majors Michael Ferrara and Brandon Young, Color Guard Captains Jen Capria and Gabrielle Ziems and Drumline Captain Sean Dellecave.

The band is under the professional direction of George Macchio, Assisted Director Michael Carroll, Band Coordinator Jason Macy, Percussion Instructor Michael Macchio, Colorguard Designer/Instructor Robert Normandeau, Assistant Colorguard Instructor Lauren Macchio, Music Arranger Richard Saucedo and Visual Designer 
Eugene Bennett.

The 2011-12 band is comprised of 85 members from the 
both High schools as well as some middle schools.
