Sachem Girls Lacrosse Players Among Tops in Suffolk For Academics

Receive end of season honors and team scholar athlete awards.

The varsity girls lacrosse teams at Sachem High Schools East and North finished the 2011 season ranked among the highest in Suffolk County for total academic standing.

Sachem East had a cumulative team average of 93.268, while North had a 92.487. Both were selected as New York State Scholar Athlete Teams.

North's Allison Riss and East's Katie Doherty were each awarded the Division I Unsung Hero Award for their respective teams. The honor is given by the Suffolk County Girls Lacrosse Association.

“Our program takes academics very seriously," said Sachem North coach Ed Manly. "We review the report cards and progress reports of our student athletes to ensure they are in fact students first then athletes.  I am extremely proud of the effort our girls put into their academics, it shows the high quality kids we have at Sachem North.”
