Sachem East Tight End Commits To SUNY Cortland

David Foster will play for Division III Red Dragons in Fall 2013.

Sachem East Arrows Tight End David Foster has verbally committed to play football at SUNY Cortland when he graduates in 2013.

The 6'2" 195 lb senior wore number 88 during his career at East and is ranked number 140 in the state, according to MaxPreps.

He'll join a Red Dragons team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament last fall before getting knocked off by Wesley College. Foster will play under Head Coach Dan MacNeill, to date, the winningest coach at SUNY Cortland with a .647 winning percentage and a 99-54 career record. MacNeill is in his 17th season at the school.

Most will remember Foster for his pivotal touchdown catch during Sachem East's dramatic upset over Connetquot: a win that sent East to its first Suffolk County Championship in history.

Foster caught a short pass from Danny Wolff in the flat after Wolff rolled out to his right. Foster, moving to the left sideline, took the pass and tore up the middle of the field to paydirt.

East went on to win the game in the final seconds on an amazing catch by Ryan Dippel in the back corner of the endzone.
