Sachem East Field Hockey Defeats Smithtown East

Scores from the Trombetta girls makes East 3-0 in league play.

The Sachem East Field Hockey team defeated Smithtown East 2-0 despite double-digit saves from Smithtown's goaltender. The Flaming Arrows improved to 3-0 on the young season with a solid shutout on the strength of the two Trombetta girls: Cara and Katie.

Cara Trombetta, a freshman at East, secured the first goal off an assist from her sister. Katie Trombetta scored the second goal on a penalty stroke. The two goals were enough for East's defensive corp of Kyle Larkin, Stephanie Bagley and Karen Ryan, who limited Smithtown East to one shot on goal and one penalty corner. Goalie Jordan Miller saved the one shot she faced.

Sachem East will travel to face Huntington High School on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match.
