Youngsters in the community who dream one day of becoming a Sachem North Varsity Cheerleader will now get their chance, thanks to a promotion from the North squad.
On September 16 registered kids, grades K-5, will receive a full day of training from members of the varsity cheerleading squad. The three-hour clinic includes stunts, jumps, tumbling and cheers, according to the promotional flyer. There will also be snacks, refreshments, and participants will receive a cheerleading T-shirt and hair bow.
Registration costs $35, and the clinic runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the back gymnasium at North. As an added bonus, the participants will work on a special cheer to be performed at the Homecoming Game on September 21.
