Preview: Sachem North vs. Bay Shore

Sachem North Football Coach David Falco answers some questions about last week's win and the upcoming challenge at home.

Last week Sachem North went on the road against Lindenhurst and came away with a solid victory 41-21. They got out to a fast start--a 28-0 lead-- before faltering a bit in the middle of the game as Lindenhurst scored 14 unanswered points, and were a missed field goal from making it 17. The team bounced back and put the game away with two more touchdowns.

This week, Sachem North is home against Bay Shore, a team that went 5-4 last year and is ranked #4 in the division. Bay Shore lost a brutal game last week, after taking a 27-0 lead into the third quarter, they allowed Longwood back in the game and eventually lost to the Lions at home, 30-27. Coming off that terrible loss, the Marauders will be looking to make a statement and wash that defeat out of their mouths.

Here are some of Head Coach David Falco's thoughts on the game:

On the team's approach and practice after the victory at Lindy:

"After watching the film we feel that at times we played extremely well. But there seemed to be lulls in our focus and effort at times."

A new approach this week, or if it aint broke, don't fix it?

"Our approach is always the same. Attack our areas of weakness and try to compete and get better every day."

Some things focused on during the week's practice:

"Fundamentals are the foundation of our success. We try to work these every week. Getting better in all three phases of football.

Keys to the game against Bay Shore:

  • No turnovers
  • Limit the offensive penalties
  • Stay out of 3rd [down] and long
  • Have quality special teams play
  • Play sound, coordinated defense
