Sachem North boys soccer team recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month in unique "fashion."

Those who attended the Sachem North vs. Sachem East boys soccer game yesterday might have been perplexed by all the pink mohawks jogging back and forth across the pitch. Turns out it wasn't a lost bet.

The varsity squad at North decided to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing something pink, and most of them chose to dye their hair. Others took a more conservative route, such as North's second goalie, who dressed in pink sports gear beneath his jersey.

"Some of the kids have been touch by [breast cancer] more than others, and they feel like they want to show their support," said Chris Russo, North's head coach.

Browse the photos for a look at some unique ways the kids recognized this special month.
